The Journey of Creation: From Earth to Art

Anne-Elisabeth’s journey reflects the ever-evolving connection between art and life. From a quiet childhood surrounded by her family’s meticulous crafts to a vibrant adulthood shaped by the bustling streets of Hong Kong and the quiet communities of the Philippines, her journey has been rich with influences from diverse cultures and artistic traditions.

Her artistic journey spans continents and seas, from the Sulu Sea to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, as she finds inspiration in the works of mid-century ceramicists like Valentine Schlegel and sculptors such as Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and JB Blunk.

But it is the land itself that calls her to create.

Through tactile work with natural materials – earth, wood, textiles – Anne-Elisabeth discovers a humble yet powerful connection to the world. The clay she shapes speaks to her, guides her hands and shapes her art. The beauty of ceramics lies in its imperfection; the material cracks, dries and surprises her, creating pieces that are always different from what she had imagined. It is this unpredictability that makes her work so fascinating: it connects art to the ordinary, transforming the everyday into something beautiful and palpable.

In her art, she finds freedom, letting her desires blossom through the connection between nature, creativity and the artistic process. This journey, from the clay in her hands to the works of renowned artists, has led Anne-Elisabeth to find her true place in the creative world, offering timeless elegance and grace in the form of ceramics. Through this journey, she brings her passion to life, allows it to take shape and earn its name.
